Hotlapper of The Week - Xena (XenaLake)

Xena is a Race Director at TrYC and she does come in to do some Hotlaps with us as well. Needed to know more on her so here is how it went :)

We love you are hotlapping with us!

Ginger Henderson:  Your interest with sailing in Second Life, how did it begin?
Xena Lake: Before I rezzed in SL I knew I will live in three sims with a lake (from there my second name). A nice group of people that I meet rl. All rl commercial pilots. But I saw a sailboat. Was a Nemo. And I begin to sail from that day.
Discovering the magic of to sail in SL: Nemo is my first love :). Then meet Glida and Nomad was awesome. And then when Glida teach me to race the Nemo are moments that I celebrate. Also Burt help me lol. When I won my first race I dedicated all my hapiness to this special persons.

Ginger: We seen you sail in some Hotlaps. What do you enjoy about them?
Xena: I think Hotlaps is great in all senses. I enjoy when you talk and meet people on the dock, when I rezz the sailboat and then the log on for to start and all the Hotlap. I live these things intensely. Enjoying every moment. In addition, and thanks to the ideas of Burt (who not afraid you to utter the four most dangerous words: I've had an idea) then it is possible to compare the personal performance. And the most important part is for me to see my errors and do it again better. You can not see its racing. Yes at Hotlaps.

Ginger: Any changes you would like to see with Hotlaps?
Xena: Hotlaps is great as I said. Just I dont like when I see the message: xxxxx resident bla bla, go and revenge ... . In my lifestyle revenge is not in my vocabulary and I think Hotlaps are for to learn. Why revenge or revenge of what? :)

Ginger: What part of the Real Life world are you from?
Xena: I was born in France and living in Argentina for 23 years. My family decided to come here when I was only five years old. So .... I didn't have many opportunities to choose.

Ginger: Do you sail also in your Real Life as well?
Xena: Yes I do and is a big part of my rl life. I started accompanying my father at my five years and then about ten years later it was time for the "Optimist" and then the "Laser". Here in Argentina there is a sailboat called "Pampero". It has a length of 3.75 m and a sleeve of 1.75 m and the sails of a large boat. I sailed she too. Today I run all the calendar with my crew in two categories with a Holland 30 and an OD 65 Volvo.

Ginger: What are your top 3 favourite sailboats in Second Life?
Xena: Well as I said Nemo is my first love. Then I enjoy a lot the Shields is a great sailboat and free for all the people at Burt style. I was involved with the development and was fascinating.I think I have a Shields museum in my inventory from version 0.25 till the last. Then depends what I want. For fun all Cybersculpts line is awesome, also for new sailors or new racers. I perform a weekly race at TrYC all Thursdays in this way.
Then for to race AC-62, AC-45, OP-60, Dolphin and many more, Yes all are fast boats ?. As Lampoon says... I begin to think over 20 knots.

Ginger: Any particular boat you sail alot that you would like to share with us?
Xena: I think the AC-62 is great for Hotlaps and for to race too. I like it so much and I try to learn more and more all days. I sail she from more than 3 years.

Ginger: Besides Hotlaps, do you practice with sailing often?
Xena: Yes all days, just not Sundays when I dont come in world for rl races. As Triumphal YC RD I sail the courses before the races as I was do in other YC too. I think an RD have to know what is better for the racers and give a complete weather info before start. Then I practice is a Sansara area, in a Corsica area (Weather is more rought) and I race at FIYC on Fridays and TrYC on Saturdays(When I can). I do Topless Sailors & Topless Cruisers. And when I can RSYC too. Also I can cruise alone as some days ago doing from Blake to Gaeta in a Minnow reborn and was awesome.

Ginger: When sailing, do you use any tools or settings to help you that you may want to share with others?
Xena: When I sail I just use the Mini Map and USB or any speedometer. For to race I use TrapNav (my fav so far). Gestures obviously but not for cruise.

Ginger: What question would you like to ask other sailors out there?
Xena: This is a nice question. Why we cant have one and only calendar of events?. I am young in SL and rl but old sailors here can do this possible?. Would be nice.

Ginger: Is there anything else you would like to share with others?
Xena: I say all time I sail for fun. SL must be happy. Is nice to win but is better to learn. Is great to help one each other and make a better community all days. My experience from rl is there. Here in SL is different. Is my simple idea about sailing here. Thank you Ginger for all you do for the sailing in SL (We know is not this only ?).

Ginger: Thank you very much for your time for this interview and looking forward to seeing you on the Second Life waters soon.  :)
